Interpretive Programs

The MacGregor Point Visitor Centre staff offer a number of interpretive programs year round. During peak season in July and August, we generally provide between 10 and 14 programs a week, which include Children’s Programs, Meet the Naturalist Programs, Outdoor Recreation, Evening Programs, Guided Hikes and guest speakers. In the spring and fall, interpretive programming is usually concentrated during the weekends, and in the winter there is programming offered during select holidays.

Stay tuned for more upcoming programs! Please refer to our calendar for current dates and information on special events.

Guided Hikes

Our guided hikes give you the chance to spend some more time with park naturalists and take you through some of the most beautiful trails that we are lucky to have here at MacGregor Point. Usually our hikes go through Lake Ridge Trail, the Tower Trail or the Huron Fringe Boardwalk. This gives everyone the opportunity to experience many different habitats with widely varying flora and fauna.

Children's Program

Children’s Programs are some of our favourites because they give us the opportunity to play some fun games and go on exciting hikes. Our Children’s Programs start at 10:00 am and they usually run for about an hour. We try to combine some interesting facts with games, songs, and exciting hikes to a couple different locations.

These hands on programs will let you develop your camping and outdoor skills. MacGregor Point staff will share with you some of their most successful outdoor skills. These programs can consist of, how to make the perfect camping meal at our campfire cookout, knowing how to tie the essential camping knots, sharpening up your orienteering skills and practicing some neat survival skills. These programs often run during our peak camping season. Check out our weekly program notice or give us a call for more information!

Evening Presentations

Evening programs are often formal presentations regarding important park information and other pressing issues that we may have in the park. In the past our evening presentations have consisted but are not limited to; the exciting world of bugs and spiders, stars, climate change, water quality and wetlands! Please see our weekly program notice for more information or give us a call and we will gladly inform you of the programs we are offering that week.

Guest Speakers

MacGregor Point Provincial Park often invites guest speakers to conduct guided hikes or evening presentations. These guest speakers are generally experts in biology and the local flora and fauna. We also try to get several live animal guest speakers in each summer, starring birds of prey, reptiles, mammals, and even amphibians! For further information and dates when guest speakers will be at Macgregor Point Provincial Park please call the MacGregor Point Park Visitor Centre or view our weekly program notice.
