Jarmo has been a lifelong naturalist in Ontario. His vision is to promote the informed protection and recovery of ecosystems, sustainable land uses and lifestyles, and deep reverence for the natural world as an ecologist and singer-songwriter. Jarmo started working in the environmental field while in junior high as a volunteer at the Long Point Bird Observatory. More than 30 years later, Jarmo has authored or co-authored more than 120 reports and articles in the fields of ecology and the environment, including: recovery plans for 19 federally and provincially listed species at risk, ecological inventories of more than 200 parks and natural areas in Ontario, and landmark studies of two of Ontario’s World Biosphere Reserves (Niagara Escarpment and eastern Georgian Bay coast). Jarmo has been working as an ecologist with the Chippewas of Nawash Species At Risk program since 2007. He is also the Director of Ecosystem Recovery for the Carolinian Canada Coalition, a charitable organization that has been working to green the landscape of southwestern Ontario since 1984. Jarmo's fourth album of music is planned for release in 2013.
