Eagles, Eagles, everywhere!  We saw a spectacle today - 42 Bald Eagles in one location!  Due to a tip, we expected to see as many as 36 Bald Eagles at Baie du Dore.  It was very windy with 30 to 50 km winds, cold (-8 C), snow was flying and seeing for any distance was impossible.  When we arrived at Baie du Dore, our first stop, the reported eagles had disappeared along with many other species we'd expected to see in that location.  Poor visibility and birds seeking refuge reduced considerably the number of species that we had expected to see.  We left Baie du Dore and headed to the Bruce Power Visitor Centre via Bruce Side Road E/F.  On E/F we discovered Bald Eagle paradise.  We saw 42 birds huddled in the trees seeking refuge from the winds and the cold of the day. About 2/3s were mature Bald Eagles.  One tree held a first year, a second year and a mature Bald Eagle for side-by-side comparison.  It was an unexpected, incredible experience for us.

In total, 26 species of birds were seen.

Places visited were:  Southampton, Baie du Dore, County Road 23 (Sideroad E/F) between 4th and 6th Concession, Bruce Power's Visitor Centre, Inverhuron, The Ark, bottom of the 5th Concession, Kincardine land-fill, south-east of Amberley.  Thirteen people were in attendance.

Sightings:  Wild Turkey, Herring Gull, Black-backed Gull, American Crow, Common Redpoll, Mute Swan, Goldeneye, Common Merganser, Bald Eagle, Rock Pigeon, Horned Lark, Bufflehead, Red-tailed Hawk, Black-capped Chickadee, American Goldfinch, Dark-eyed Junco, Hairy Woodpecker, Downy Woodpecker, Northern Cardinal, Red-breasted Nuthatch, Mourning Dove, Bluejay, European Starling, Greater Scaup, Snow Bunting, Mallard.
